TCD were engaged by FMG to install surface water management measures to support expansion of the mine’s active mining area.

Key Deliverables:
  • Construction of 9 individual culverts totalling over 900m at several locations along the proposed Dominion Haul Road
  • Construction of 6+ km of mine standard access track across virgin ground with very steep and undulating terrain
  • Project considered high-risk by the Principal’s stakeholders due to challenging terrain conditions and operation within the active mine area
  • Culverts located within natural alignment of surface water paths in steep gullies of varying widths

The project was completed ahead of program and with zero HSE incidents.

TCD were engaged by CSI Mining Services at Kens Bore, part of the Onslow Iron Project, to construct a multi-plate steel underpass tunnel and installation of culvert drainage pipes, headwalls and rock protection.

Key Deliverables:
  • Form, install reinforcement and pour strip footings for the tunnel
  • Installation of tunnel base channels
  • Installation of 73m long multi-plate steel with additional rib plate installation in the centre
  • Installation of 61 drainage culverts (CSPs, RCBCs and RCP pipe) and headwalls, including onsite transportation, excavation, installation of bedding, protective wrap and cement stabilised backfill
  • Placement of rip-rap to construct rock protection to the inlet/outlet of culverts

TCD was engaged to construct a new transfer pond at FMG’s Christmas Creek Mine to support increased water storage for ongoing operations.

Key Deliverables:
  • Site establishment and clearing of 5 hectares
  • 2,500 m³ of unsuitable material excavated
  • 3,500 m³ backfilled with imported fill
  • 36,000 m³ of embankment construction using site and imported material
  • 20,000 m² compacted area and 2,800 m² pump pad construction
  • Installation of 31,000 m² of 1.5mm HDPE liner and geotextile underlay
  • Installation of suction piping, safety equipment and hold-down bags
  • Supply and install of fencing, gates and inspection ramp road
  • Final commissioning, testing and project handover

  • Two multi-bank culverts installed: 20× 1,500mm diameter CSPs at Big Garden and 6× 1,500mm diameter CSPs at Kangaroo
  • Progressive trench installation and backfill for corrugated steel pipe (CSP) using site bush-mixed cement stabilised fill (CSF)
  • General fill backfill to finished haul road height and construction of heavy vehicle windrows
  • Sourcing, screening and installing inlet and outlet rock protection at both locations

  • Construct temporary water storage (2× 1ML MEGAMAX tanks) and permanent storage (5ML Turkey’s Nest) at LensEF
  • Install pipelines, valves, fittings, supports and associated infrastructure
  • Install and commission 6× VSG dewatering trailer packages and 5× VSD headwork packages
  • Integrate all systems into SCADA/Wonderware
  • Earthworks, excavations, backfilling and surface restoration
  • Widen pipeline corridors and establish laydown areas
  • Decommission and remove redundant infrastructure

TCD were engaged for the construction of a new sedimentation basin within the Mundagoora pool catchment to capture run-off from ROM B at Iron Bridge Operations (IBO). The retention basin captures stormwater and potential leachate run-off within the facility limits.

Key Deliverables:
  • Early client/designer engagement and development of Construction Sedimentation Control Plan
  • Mobilisation and establishment of contractor facilities and compound
  • Access track improvements to enable haul truck movements
  • Bulk and detailed excavation of 20,000 m³ of material including over 4,000 m³ of rock to form the basin
  • Installation of 3,000 m² of geotextile and rock protection at inlet, intermediate and discharge drainage structures
  • Final trimming of cut-off drains, embankments and basin

As part of Fortescue’s commitment to achieve real zero emissions by 2030 through renewable energy generation, TCD was contracted to construct a permanent base/camp supporting wind turbine operations, initially accommodating 350 people with future expansion capacity to 950.

Key Deliverables:
  • Vegetation clearing, grubbing and stockpiling for camp pad construction with 13,000 m³ cut to fill
  • Grading and repairing 2,000m of access tracks and pipeline corridors
  • Excavation, welding, pressure testing, installation and backfill of 750m of HDPE pipeline into a service trench
  • Clearing and grubbing of firebreak around camp pad
  • Construction of perimeter v-drains and windrows
  • Demolition of redundant concrete structures and tanks including controlled removal of hazardous waste
  • Clearing and topsoil grubbing for a new spray field

Delivered on time despite challenging scope changes, safely and to a high standard of quality.

TCD was engaged by Fortescue to deliver the construction of a communications pad at the Eliwana mine site. The project required mobilisation and haulage of material to a challenging elevated location.

Key Deliverables:
  • Clearing of vegetation and foundation compaction to establish a stable platform
  • Significant levelling works across the main pad and access track, addressing complex natural topography
  • Placement and compaction of approximately 8,000 m³ of material for pad and access road
  • Safe haulage of material through the active Eliwana mine with traffic management and coordination with FMG operations
  • Construction of rock chutes for effective drainage during heavy rainfall events

Delivered on time, safely, and to a high standard of quality despite challenging terrain and logistical demands.
