We delivered civil construction services for FMG at the Eliwana mine site in the Western Hamersley Ranges. The project involved building a new communications pad and access track on Bluesky Ridge, alongside an extension to an existing pad. This work supported the installation of telecommunications infrastructure in a remote, rugged terrain setting. Our approach focused on precise earthworks and structural integrity. We established site facilities and conducted compaction trials to determine optimal fill methods. The core works included foundation preparation, loading, hauling, placing, and compacting over 8,000 cubic metres of fill material to form the pads and tracks. We constructed edge protection windrows to manage steep terrain risks. Following the initial handover, we returned to install a flat bottom drain with railway ballast and geotextile layers, and replaced a rock chute to resolve drainage issues at the newly constructed tower foundation.
