We executed civil and earthworks for BHP’s Mining Area C LTE project, establishing the physical foundation for a new wide-area communications network. The scope involved preparing greenfield and brownfield sites for Radio Base Stations, Skid Sites, and Solar Cell on Wheels units. Our work focused on creating stable, level platforms to support network towers and equipment enclosures, ensuring each site was ready for the installation of critical communications infrastructure. Our approach centred on bulk earthworks and precise pad construction. We sourced fill material from local borrow pits and waste stockpiles, hauling and placing it to form the required pads. This included foundation preparation, such as scarifying and compacting, followed by layered fill placement and compaction to meet design grades. We also performed ground improvement works, including excavation and geofabric installation, and constructed drainage systems with rock rip rap. Additionally, we assisted with earth grid trenching and managed site conditions through dust suppression and fire management protocols.

Key Deliverables

  • Construction and compaction of 15 communication tower pads
  • Bulk earthworks including fill placement from borrow pits
  • Foundation preparation and ground improvement works
  • Site drainage installation with rock rip rap
  • Earth grid trenching and backfill for mobile sites
  • Site management including dust suppression and fire mitigation
