We delivered civil earthworks to support the expansion of communication infrastructure at the Flying Fish operations, southeast of the Eliwana mine site. The project involved establishing a new Radio Base Station (RBS) pad and improving the associated access track to enable the installation of telecommunications equipment. This work was part of a broader effort to extend signalling and communication capabilities across the mining operations. Our team executed bulk and detailed earthworks, including land clearing, foundation preparation, and precise grading. We constructed a 430-metre access track with sheeting, crossfall, and drainage windrows, ensuring compliance with site gradient specifications. For the RBS pad, we placed and compacted fill material in controlled lifts to achieve the required density and level tolerances. The approach included rigorous set-out, compaction testing, and proof rolling of potential cavity zones to ensure a stable foundation for the subsequent infrastructure installation.
Key Deliverables
- Construction of a 430-metre access track with sheeting and drainage
- Establishment of a Radio Base Station (RBS) pad using compacted fill
- Land clearing and topsoil management across the work area
- Foundation preparation including scarification and compaction
- Proof rolling of designated zones to verify ground stability
- Installation of temporary fencing and bund works at the camp area
