We executed the civil and pipeline scope for the Brockman 2 Fire and Service Water System Upgrade, a critical infrastructure project for RTIO in the Pilbara. The works involved upgrading four distinct water networks, services process, plant process, potable, and fire water, to rectify existing deficiencies. Our team installed new in-ground HDPE piping, concrete slabs for fire pump skids and MCCs, and various pipe supports and bollards. The project also included the installation of new fire hydrants, hose reels, cabinets, and safety showers, alongside aboveground galvanised steel piping and potable water tanks. Our approach focused on precise set-out, excavation, and installation of the new water infrastructure. We performed extensive trenching for the in-ground HDPE piping, ranging from narrow utility trenches to wider excavations for main lines. The installation process included locating buried services, excavating to required depths, laying and welding the HDPE pipes, and backfilling with compaction testing. We also constructed concrete footings, pedestals, and hardstands, and installed LV bollards and fire water distribution board plinths. The works were completed during online operations where possible, with tie-ins scheduled during shutdowns to minimise disruption to site operations.
