We constructed the foundational earthworks and civil infrastructure for Bonney Downs Village, a permanent camp designed to support wind turbine teams for Fortescue's decarbonisation project in the Pilbara. The site, located north of Christmas Creek Mine, was developed to accommodate 350 persons initially, with provisions for future expansion. Our scope focused on preparing the land and establishing the core civil elements required for the camp's operational readiness. Our approach involved extensive site preparation, including clearing, grubbing, and stripping topsoil to create stable pads and access tracks. We executed cut-to-fill operations to shape the terrain, managing material conditioning and haulage from designated borrow pits. Key works included the construction of a camp access road, detailed earthworks for carparks, and the installation of drainage systems comprising drains, culverts, and windrows. We also managed the demolition of existing infrastructure, established firebreaks, and handled the transport and compaction of fines material for specific loading areas. Throughout the project, we maintained strict quality control through plate load testing and environmental inspections to ensure the integrity of the constructed works.
