This project involved the installation of drainage infrastructure across the BHP South Flank mining precinct. We installed 117 corrugated steel pipe barrels at 58 culvert crossings, from DN600 to DN2400, across haul roads, crusher and infrastructure access roads and the overland conveyor formations. Key locations included the Primary Crushing Stations (PC1 and PC2), non-process infrastructure roads, overland conveyor formations, and mobile equipment maintenance areas. The works were designed to manage water flow beneath new haul roads and operational pads, ensuring long-term stability of the site’s earthworks. Our team installed a range of corrugated steel pipe (CSP) culverts, varying in size from small single-barrel units to large multi-barrel configurations. The approach involved precise set-out, trench excavation, and the placement of pipe barrels on prepared bases. We constructed inlet and outlet rock protection using riprap aprons and batters to prevent erosion. Backfilling was completed with cemented aggregate fill, compacted in layers to support the pipe structures and restore the ground surface for heavy vehicle traffic.

- Construction of inlet and outlet rock protection aprons
- Placement of riprap batters for erosion control
- Backfilling with cemented aggregate fill
- Earthworks and site preparation for culvert trenches
