We delivered a comprehensive dewatering abstraction strategy for Rio Tinto at Greater Nammuldi, Western Australia. The project involved the supply and installation of thirteen new dewatering bores across multiple lens areas, including LensAB, LensCD, and LensEF. This infrastructure was designed to support below-water-table mining operations by providing targeted water abstraction in advance of bench progressions. The scope included the construction of both temporary and permanent water buffer storage facilities to manage discharge from the standpipe systems. Our team managed the full lifecycle of the works, from earthworks and surveying to the mechanical installation of piping and electrical connections. We installed dewatering trailers, VSD headworks, power generators, and extensive piping networks, connecting them to the existing mine dewatering infrastructure. The approach included the fabrication and installation of concrete pipe supports, valve assemblies, and instrumentation. We also constructed a 5ML permanent storage facility (Turkey’s Nest) and temporary tank solutions to ensure continuous water management during the transition to permanent systems. All works were executed within active mining zones, requiring careful coordination with site operations and strict adherence to safety protocols around autonomous haulage systems.
