Description
As part of Fortescue’s commitment to decarbonise its operations, new renewable green power electricity will be transmitted between sites using a dedicated 220KV overhead transmission network. TCD was contracted to undertake the major earthworks for access tracks, pads and substations to support this network between the Lamba Substation and Christmas Creek Mine.
Key Deliverables:
- Vegetation clearing, grubbing, and stockpiling for 240 tracks and power pole pads over 120km
- Construction of 2 new raised engineered embankment substation pads at Cloudbreak and Christmas Creek
- Extensive borrow, cut and fill operations including grading, compaction, and final trim to design tolerances
- Rail crossings, traffic management and operational integration measures
Works were delivered in close coordination with FMG stakeholders, minimising disruption to ongoing mine activities. Following successful completion, TCD was awarded a subsequent scope of comparable scale and complexity.
