TCD delivered a complete pump station and control infrastructure package for the Saline Dam 3 dewatering system at KCGM’s Super Pit operations in Kalgoorlie. The project integrated portable control buildings with high-capacity pump systems to manage saline water from mining operations.

Our team manufactured and installed custom portable control rooms, complete pump station infrastructure including manifolds and pipework, and integrated electrical and communications systems – delivering a turnkey solution for this critical water management facility.

TCD was contracted for the supply, installation and commissioning of dewatering infrastructure as part of Rio Tinto’s GNAM BSP Abstraction Strategy.

Key Deliverables:
  • Install and commission 13 dewatering bores across LensAB, LensCD and LensEF
  • Construct temporary water storage (2× 1ML MEGAMAX tanks) and permanent storage (5ML Turkey’s Nest) at LensEF
  • Install pipelines, valves, fittings, supports and associated infrastructure
  • Install and commission 6× VSG dewatering trailer packages and 5× VSD headwork packages
  • Integrate all systems into SCADA/Wonderware
  • Earthworks, excavations, backfilling and surface restoration
  • Widen pipeline corridors and establish laydown areas
  • Decommission and remove redundant infrastructure

TCD was engaged to deliver essential infrastructure upgrades within the pit area, enabling Rio Tinto to meet below water table (BWT) mining requirements and maintain Saleable Ore Product (SOP) targets.

Key Deliverables:
  • All works conducted within the operational pit, adhering to strict safety, environmental and quality standards
  • Installed 5 dewatering abstraction bores within the pit, each equipped with flexible risers and VSG trailers
  • Commissioned Variable Speed Generator (VSG) trailer units and SCADA integration for real-time data acquisition and control
  • Installed pipe droppers to connect new bores to existing pipeline network
  • Polywelded and commissioned HDPE pipelines including tie-ins to existing infrastructure

Flying Fish Dewatering

Description

Fortescue’s Eliwana Mine Site required the installation of dewatering infrastructure to allow the mining of the Flying Fish ore body. This included a new bore field, pipeline infrastructure, holding tanks and turkey’s nests.

TCD’s key deliverables included:

  • 45km of HDPE pipelines for water supply of the mine, inclusive of 8km of buried pipelines
  • 4 x Turkey’s Nests, each with a LV and HV Standpipe
  • 1 x Transfer Pond and Pump Station
  • 12 x Abstraction Bores
  • 6 x Re-Injection Bores

Whilst on-site additional works were awarded for the pipe re-alignment for the Flying Fish Haul Road, as the current design clashed with the existing pipeline. Works included the installation and re-alignment of piping, valves and fittings.
