We executed civil and earthworks for the Pilbara Energy transmission line project, supporting Fortescue’s decarbonisation initiative in the Pilbara region. The scope involved constructing access tracks and pads for a 220 kV overhead transmission line, including specific works at the Christmas Creek Substation. Our team managed the earthworks required to establish stable foundations for transmission poles and associated infrastructure across multiple separable portions of the alignment. Our approach focused on precise survey set-out, clearing, and grading to create compliant access tracks and pole pads. We constructed substation pads using concrete works and earthworks techniques, ensuring proper drainage and surface stability. The works included installing culverts along access roads and constructing windrows for erosion control. We mobilised plant and equipment to handle cut-to-fill operations, imported fill material, and performed surface trimming to achieve the required grades. The project involved remobilisation to complete outstanding scope items and adjustments to pad designs, ensuring all structures met the technical requirements for the transmission line infrastructure.
