We delivered the Flying Fish Dewatering Realignment for Fortescue at the Eliwana mine in the Pilbara between June and October 2023. The new Flying Fish haul road clashed with the existing dewatering network, so we rerouted the high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipelines clear of the road footprint, working across a corridor of more than 16 hectares.
We realigned about 3 km of DN630 bulk main around the new Flying Fish haul road and built about 2.4 km of access track. We installed 23 buried pipe sections under haul roads, creeks and access roads to protect the pipelines from surface traffic and environmental factors. The works included poly-welding pipe joints, installing in-line fittings and valves, and making live tie-ins to the existing network. We also installed sheet flow structures, then flushed, pressure tested and commissioned the system.
