When a culvert collapsed to create a dangerous void in Rio Tinto’s rail formation, TCD and our Indigenous partner, Yarra, had just three days to replace and complete the repairs. This included cutting of the track, excavation, backfill and relaying of the track
Success for a task like this comes down to planning before any tool is lifted or machine started. We had one day to prepare and two days for the closure of the rail track. The works were completed on time with no further delays to Rio Tinto’s Rail Operations.
Even with careful preparation, things don’t always go to plan. We had a delay when the track wasn’t cut on time. Fortunately, our highly experienced team took it in their stride and the delay didn’t affect the ultimate completion time.
