TCD were engaged by NRW Civil and Mining as part of their Bulk Earthworks Contract for the Brockman 4 Phase 1 Mine Infrastructure Works. Like many of our projects it involved an integrated approach from numerous TCD services to deliver their requirements. And their list was a long one.
In terms of roadworks and transport, the project included over 50 kms of highway standard sealed road, built under traffic, 44 kms of railway including a rail loop, and two six metre diameter arched rail overpasses, plus haul roads.
Added to this was the construction of a stockpile area, a reinforced earth ROM wall, permanent village earthworks, and all infrastructure and plant site pads including services.
Then, to manage water, we constructed major mine cut off drains, as well as designing and installing the mine’s dewatering system. And on top of all that, there was the airstrip.
It was a massive project that required over 120 culvert locations, each one with a concrete headwall and rock bedding. That added up to around 4.5 kms of culvert, with the sizes ranging from 600 mm diameter to 3,300 mm.
